Self Portrait

I walked in these Vans everyday for 2 and a half years. Through the beaches of Hawaii, the narrow streets of Spain, the bars of Italy, and about 10 more countries and 2 more oceans.

The smeared text is “Working Class Hero” by John Lennon. I gravitate to this song not only because John Lennon is my favorite musician, but because there is a pragmatism and a realism to the message. I re-wrote the lyrics 5 times, while washing them out after each time. This repetitive process is something I am working more with currently, but spawned from this piece about two years ago. With repetition comes heightened experience.
